Welcome to Psychosylum.net
Psychosylum: (Psych/osylum: sike·o-·si-·lu(m)
Psych refers to psychology which can be referred back to psychic, which is considered part of paranormal behavior.
In the historic sense of this term…ASYLUM refers to a sanctuary where outcasts were protected. This site allows paranormal believers to visit and not be treated as outcasts (as many sometimes are). The word Asylum has been personalized (changed) to Osylum in representation of the Old World… which also refers back to the paranormal nature. |

The Best Digital Cameras for Ghost Hunters
| Posted by admin on Thursday, July 17 @ 23:49:27 EDT (9 reads)

So we all know that digital cameras have caught on with the general public, but did you know that Ghost Hunters are into them now too? Imagine that. If you dabble in paranormal research and are in the market for a digital camera to capture your spooky evidence, look out for the following features:
Auto and Manual Settings
When it comes to photographing semi-transparent matter (i.e. mist, ectoplasm) you'll want to be able to override your camera's automatic settings on flash and depth of focus.
Variety of Shutter Speeds
You'll also want to be able to set your own shutter speed--sport settings (high-speed shutter) will help you capture orbs and light vortices while slow shutter speeds (don't forget to use a tripod) will help you with things in motion (i.e. Myrtle floating down the stairs).

Ghost hunters hit Good Ground in search of paranormal
| Posted by admin on Thursday, July 17 @ 23:45:53 EDT (10 reads)

As the sky grew dark and the threat of rain mounted, a small group of paranormal investigators and enthusiasts ventured into an East End cemetery with hopes to contact and do*****ent denizens of “the other side.”
Erica Popino, lead investigator of the Holtsville-based Island Ghost Investigations, also known as IGI, and founder of the Paranormal Activity Study Team, or PAST, had planned to investigate Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton Bays a week earlier, but inclement weather delayed her public ghost hunt until an evening in late June.
Beginning at about 8:30 p.m., and armed with flashlights, digital audio and video recorders, and infrared cameras, six ghost hunters walked along rows of tombstones attempting to do*****ent evidence of the afterlife. The group spent the evening switching between respectful silences—interrupted only when calling upon the dead—and lighter moments of social chatter, laughter, and talk of paranormal theory and real-life ghost stories among friends.
“PAST is a group of 100 people,” Ms. Popino said, explaining her paranormal social network, at the same time peering into the landscape of graves and thick darkness around her—the orange glow of Hampton Bays creeping above the horizon. “Island Ghost Investigations has nine [members]—that’s a private group,” she said, adding, “We tend to do more serious investigations.”
Clearly passionate about her work, Ms. Popino’s IGI group helps people on Long Island with their haunted homes and businesses free of charge, whether the claims turn out to be legitimate or not. But PAST is something quite different.
“We do monthly public ghost hunts,” she said during a phone call last week. Ms. Popino, a 42-year-old single mother of two, said the Hampton Bays investigation was a PAST event, adding that while she’s heard no specific claims of ghostly activity, Good Ground Cemetery is a safe outdoor area on Long Island where novices can learn without their inexperience adversely affecting a family or business in need of their services. While PAST is a social network, it’s also a learning group for “newbies”—people who are ghost enthusiasts rather than seasoned investigators, she explained, remarking, “There are a lot of thrill seekers out there.”

'Ghost' Story

"Ghost Whisperer" is a shout out to spectral neighbors, those pushy spatial sputniks soaring through an outer limit that adds another dimension to those lives haunted by history.
James Van Praagh is practical about it all. They're just making themselves known, he says with a shrug in his voice.
Easy for him to say: He not only sees dead people; he talks to them, cajoles them, bargains with them, asks their advice and introduces them to millions of somewhat frightened fans each week as "Ghost Whisperer," the well-done CBS spookathon that this medium mediates as co-executive producer, proves miasmal gold in the ratings.
Or is that miasmal ghoul? Author/producer Van Praagh proudly adds a new dimension to out-there TV, but his scope isn't limited to just channeling dramas. His Ghosts Among Us is the ultimate ghost story. It is as spirited a stand as one can take advocating the existence of the non-living who enliven our lives.
In this, yet another of his best-selling books after Talking to Heaven and Reaching for Heaven ... well, heaven can wait, but eager fans have put it on the top of their must-have list. Van Praagh pricks misconceptions and missed opportunities to tune into the tome's "truth about the other side."
Whose side are you on? Van Praagh pre-empts the snickers and snide remarks with haunting and harrowing stories to deflate and flatten the haughty.

"Supernatural" Prequel?
| Posted by admin on Sunday, June 29 @ 15:59:46 EDT (67 reads)
Source: http://www.filmfodder.com/
Reports are surfacing that a "Supernatural: prequel may be in the works. Eric Kripke, the uber-talented creator of show, has recently signed a two-year contract with Warner Brothers. He will continue to lead "Supernatural", but also start working on the development of other projects.
Kripke has previously spoke about doing a "Supernatural"-related project set in the Old West. Most people think that it would center around the creation of the demon-killing Colt, although it could be a Winchester ancestor, or something completely different. It's speculation, after all.
Still, I think this is fantastic news. Kripke is rapidly moving up - his fanboy level (at least for me) is starting to approach 'Joss Whedon' levels - and any news of additional Kripke projects should be watched closely. Whatever it turns out to be, I bet it will be solid.
To be honest, although I would love a prequel, I think I am more excited to see what Kripke does next!

Person's ashes found in theatre

Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/
A pale blue box containing what are thought to be a dead person's ashes has been found at the Empire Theatre in Liverpool.
The box was left in the auditorium after a performance by Scouse medium Derek Acorah and former star of TV's Most Haunted programme.
A member of the theatre's front of house staff found the box which has yet to be claimed.
A spokesperson from the Empire said it was an "unusual" item of lost property.
The small box has the name of of well-known Liverpool funeral director Peter Coyne printed on it.
Staff believe its owner may not realise it is still at the theatre.
Jenny Morgan from the theatre said: "We assume someone brought them along to see if Derek could get some readings from them.
"But I'm not sure how anyone could forget them.
"Of all the lost property our staff has come across this is definitely one of the most unusual."

A dark figure haunts visitors to Oxford Castle Unlocked!
| Posted by admin on Sunday, June 22 @ 02:01:22 EDT (43 reads)
Source: http://www.easier.com/
A photograph, which has captured a dark figure taken in the foreboding underground Crypt at Oxford Castle Unlocked, has revealed the paranormal does exist and confirms beliefs that the Castle is haunted. The photograph was taken on Friday 16 May by a member of the public at a ghost hunt organised by Fright Nights, the UK’s leading ghost hunt specialist. The brave ghost hunter, who was alone in the Crypt at the time, took the photograph with his digital camera.
Keiron Brown from Alton in Hampshire was astonished to see the dark shadow of a figure at the end of the corridor leading into the Crypt when he looked at the images on his computer after the event. The astounding photograph has since been analysed by experts at Fright Nights and at Oxford Castle Unlocked.
Martin Jeffrey, Director of Fright Nights stated “We were amazed by this photograph. Our analysts have shown that the figure is jet black and unusually not lit up by the flash, whereas the side walls and the wall behind it have visible lighting caused by the flash. We can also confirm that the figure is facing the camera and seems to have some form of hood, head dress or blindfold. We know that the Crypt was used for the storing of criminals especially those waiting execution, so the figure fits perfectly within the history of the Castle”.
Fright Nights were granted exclusive use of Oxford Castle Unlocked in which to hold overnight paranormal investigations for the public since early 2007. The visitor attraction is thought to be one of the most haunted buildings in the country. Throughout its dark history, the Castle has served time as a royal residence, a centre of justice and as the county Gaol, hidden from public view behind impenetrable 5 metre high stones walls until its closure in 1996.

Psychic to lead Surf City ghost tour
| Posted by admin on Sunday, June 22 @ 01:57:37 EDT (108 reads)
Source: http://www.ocregister.com/
Do you believe in ghosts? Michael J. Kouri does and he wants to show you where they live in Surf City.
The self-described psychic medium will begin hosting Huntington Beach ghost tours on Friday and Saturday, adding the former oil boom town to a list of other Orange County cities – Laguna Beach, Orange, Fullerton and Santa Ana – with similar eerie excursions.
The city's visitor's and conference bureau invited Kouri to begin the tours as a way of adding to the city's attractions. Future tours will be available by reservation.
"We have a Wild West kind of town with the history and the kind of people who came here to build it," said Pat Rogers with the bureau, who lobbied to bring the event to the city. "The ghosts here are probably a little bit more interesting than your average ghost."
Kouri, a parapsychological investigator for 32 years, said he will take guests through 13 – a symbolic number – of the city's most haunted hot spots. The event includes a three-hour walking and driving tour, dinner at a haunted restaurant and psychic-aura reading.

The most complex, "mind-boggling" crop circle ever to be seen in Britain has been discovered in a barley field in Wiltshire.
The formation, measuring 150ft in diameter, is apparently a coded image representing the first 10 digits, 3.141592654, of pi.
It is has appeared in a field near Barbury Castle, an iron-age hill fort above Wroughton, Wilts, and has been described by astrophysicists as "mind-boggling".
